CQI Diploma Syllabus

The CQI Diploma in Quality aims to provide the quality professional at work with the necessary qualifications to raise their knowledge of quality and enhance their academic profile.

Module D1 - Introduction to Quality

Aims

  • To provide an understanding of quality concepts
  • To develop an appreciation of the need for quality and its control
  • To enhance awareness of the terminology of quality
  • To provide an understanding of the basic statistical methods used in quality.
Module D2 - Quality Management

Aims

  • To enhance awareness of the disciplines, systems and techniques of quality management
  • To develop an appreciation of customers, clients and markets
  • To enable the application of quality management methods to all activities in the business or organisation
  • To evaluate the human dimension of an organisation.
Module D3 - Tools and Techniques

Aims

  • To enhance awareness of the disciplines, tools and techniques of quality improvement
  • To enable students to evaluate and recommend appropriate quality tools and techniques for varying situations
  • To enable students to select, apply and recommend appropriate quality tools and techniques to all activities in the business or organisation
Module D4 - Communication and Project Management

Aims

  • To provide a broad view of communication theory
  • To develop the transferable skills of communication and presentation
  • To provide an understanding of the methods used in project management
  • To enable the application of quality in Project Management
Module D5 - Quality Project

Aims

  • To provide experience of independent work at a professional level
  • To provide a context for the application and integration of knowledge and skills acquired during the course
  • To further develop initiative, critical self awareness and self reliance
  • To develop personal qualities and communication skills to a level essential for professional development
  • To foster scholarly activity and develop the necessary skills
Module D6 - Quality and Environmental Management

Aims

  • To enhance awareness of the disciplines and techniques of quality and environmental management
  • To understand the development of Environmental Management Systems
  • To identify the interface between ISO 14000, EMAS and other management systems
  • To enable the evaluation and interpretation of environmental management system techniques and their application in an industrial environment
  • To enable the appraisal and reporting on an industrial activity with regard to possible environmental effects
Module D7 - Information Technology and Quality Management
CQI will no longer offer the D7 Module after the June 09 sitting and will only be running limited exams up until that date. Please note that the last registration date for this module is 10 April 2009

Pre-learning Requirements - You must be:

  • Competent in the use of and have direct access to a computer
  • Familiar with the Internet and have access to the Internet
  • Familiar with the concepts and principles of Quality Management

Aims

  • To provide the concepts of IT and Management Information
  • To develop an appreciation of the application and control of IT within a quality environment
  • To develop an understanding of the role of quality management in the development of IT systems and software
  • To enhance students’ awareness of the statutory and regulatory issues associated with the storage, archiving and use of information and use of IT systems
